I thought you said wait till Monday?

Well, Monday came and went, and while there were some exciting new announcements… no new Macs. Not only that, but they didn’t announce the back-to-school deal yet.

I’m not saying its a certainty, but Apple does a back-to-school deal every year: Buy a Mac, and get $219 off of an iPod. Not bad: a free iPod, or turn it around on Ebay and make back $200, just for buying a Mac you would have bought anyway. Everyone was expecting them to do it this year as well, and possibly extend that discount to iPads. For at least 4 years running, Apple has made the announcement in the last week of May. So whats happening? Well, I have no idea.

If you are looking to buy a Mac Mini, MacPro, MacBook or MacBook Air, I would DEFINITELY wait, because those models are overdo for an upgrade. Faster processors, Thunderbolt, and who knows what else. If youre looking to buy a MacBook Pro or iMac, those models were just updated so you’re good to go, but I would still probably wait a couple more weeks, in case the deal shows up. You’ve been warned.

If you’re looking to buy an iPhone, we are not likely to see new ones until at least “this fall” when iOS 5 is out.

Oh, and a side note: if you buy any Mac starting today, you’ll get a free upgrade to Lion when it comes out in July, so thats $29 you won’t have to spend.
